Phonetic analysis data set from Little Kids Learning Languages - Stop voicing in Central Australian Aboriginal English
The study investigates the production and perception of stop voicing contrasts in speakers of Central Australian Aboriginal English (CAAE; Alice Springs, Australia), both adult and child speakers. For details see the published paper. The data set contains Praat textgrids, an xlsx file with metadata and R code used for analysis. The participants are children and female adults from Alice Aprings/Mparntwe. Participants were recorded (video and audio) at their homes, or at their local community centre. Conversational speech of adults, and an experimental game played by children are analysed. Production data only is analysed for the adult speakers, and both production and perception data are analysed for the child speakers.
Measurements were taken for the Constriction Duration (CD) and Voice Onset Time (VOT) of stop consonants, and analysed with statistical models. The data set contains Praat textgrids, xlsx files with metadata and phonetic measurements and R code used for analysis.
