Brief DescriptionIn 1991 the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works absorbed the Emerald District Water Board, Dandenong-Springvale Water Board, Dandenong Valley and Westernport Authority, Lang Lang Water Board, Mornington Peninsula and District Water Board and Pakenham Water Board, its change of name to Melbourne Water Corporation to take place in 1992. Works by these bodies are found under the name in use at the time of publication.

We supply affordable, high-quality water, reliable sewerage, healthy waterways, integrated drainage and flood management services and outstanding natural community spaces that help make Melbourne a fantastic place to live.

Day to day we:

manage water supply catchments
treat and supply drinking and recycled water
remove and treat most of Melbourne’s sewage
manage waterways and major drainage systems in the Port Phillip and Westernport region
