Brief Description | Planet Earth is an amazing place - it is constantly moving and its surface is always changing. At the centre of the Earth, temperatures are as high as they are on the surface of the Sun. Over billions of years, this has caused continents to drift apart and oceans to open and close. The study of Earth and marine sciences is fundamental to our understanding of the precious balance of life on Earth and how the Solar System in which we live was formed. Our focus is on both earth processes and environmental science. The Research School of Earth Sciences at The Australian National University has many world leading researchers in the Earth Sciences and offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses, as well as Higher Degree Research opportunities. |
